Lent Events at Trinity 

Sunday 2/11

*For over a thousand years, the church has refrained from speaking or singing the word “Alleluia” during the season of Lent. Our Lenten preparations begin as worship concludes. We sing the ancient farewell hymn to the Alleluia and our children put the Alleluia away until Easter morning. *Letters to the Church, Trinity’s Lenten Devotional books are available for pick-up at the church.

Ash Wednesday


Imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. 6:30 p.m. Sanctuary -  envelopes will be available in the pews and Church office for those wishing to honor a loved one in the Easter Memorial Garden. Please return to the church with $12 to purchase an Easter lily or to donate to World Hunger. Deadline: March 18, 2024

1st Sunday of Lent 

One service this day at 9a followed by Trinity’s Annual Meeting at 10:15a. *Sunday Speaker and Supper series at 4:00p.m. 9:00 a.m. Sanctuary

Mondays  in Lent

Barbara Roseman hosts the Bible study for women titled “Ladies and Luke in Lent.” Contact the church office. February 19, 26, March 4, 11, 18, 25 at the church from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.

Wednesdays in Lent

Here I Am. Send Me. Our Lenten midweek services begin. Over the five weeks, we will hear how the voice of God called five people associated with Trinity Lutheran Church to begin ministries which reach beyond our walls and do good in our community. What did The Voice sound like? How did they know? What challenges, frustrations, joys and blessings did they encounter? We will also sing David Cherwien’s thoughtful and lovely setting of Evening Prayer called Stay with Us, Lord. February 21, 28, March 6, 13, 20 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. 

2nd Sunday in Lent

Global Mission Sunday *Trinity’s regular morning worship services at 9:00 and 10:30a. *Trinity hosts the Quad Cities Community at 3:00p with a multi-cultural service, “Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers”. A light meal follows in Founders Hall. *Trinity’s Junior and Senior High Youth meet for a “World Buffet” at 6:00p in Tillberg Lounge.

5th Sunday in Lent

Palm Sunday


Trinity greets Bishop Stacy Fidlar, of the Northern Illinois Synod of the ELCA, as she brings greetings to Trinity and celebrates Holy Communion at the table.

Maundy Thursday 3/28


Remembering our Lord as Jesus gave to us the sacrament of Holy Communion. The stripping of the altar at the end of the service begins our celebration of the “Great Three Days”.

Good Friday


A contemplative service led by Trinity’s Praise Ensemble.

Easter Sunday


The Resurrection of Our Lord. March 31. 9:00 and 10:30a Come celebrate God’s great miracle with glorious music and shouts of joy as Trinity’s young people return the Alleluia to our midst.
